Mary’s Need for a Savior

There are some who hold that Mary the mother of Jesus never sinned.  However, upon hearing that she would bear the Son of God, she said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46-47).  Even if others insist she didn’t need a Savior, she realized she did.  She falls in the category of Romans 3:23, like all of us, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God“.

Praise God that in her womb was the very one who would purchase her salvation more than thirty years later.  It was the child she bore and raised who would take the cross, in part, for her sins.  May we join with Mary forever, magnifying the Lord, our spirits rejoicing in God our Savior.
